Explore All 50’s Top 10 Ice Creams Across The USA

And now back from our latest road trip it's time to update top 10 ice cream list. Ice cream is our sweet tooth obsession and we try it wherever we go. Having now covered 46 of the 50 states here are our all time faves.  Luscious flavors, chunky mix-ins and yummy swirls are so tough to resist-and sometimes top quality brings out the best in simple flavors. Here's our best of the best guide-try any of these and we guarantee you'll be swooning.

1. Morelli’s (Atlanta,Ga)
Most unusual and phenomenal flavors that constantly change. There’s always a line but once you get to the front, take a taste any or all of the flavors ranging from off the charts fabulous like Krispy Kreme, Salted Caramel, Pumpkin Spice, Flan Caramello, and Blueberry Rosewater, to incredibly weird like Sweet Corn and Athena Feta (yeah, I said Feta flavored ice cream).

Just like the state itself, everything about this ice cream is big-big bold flavors and big mix ins. Talk about chunky, the chocolate chips are more like quarter sized discs in the Montana Moose Moss (mint chip) or the Moose Tracks. More than 42 flavors and available all over Montana. We got ours at the Chocolate Moose in Bozeman.
3. The Island Creamery (Chincoteague Island, Virginia)
This is one of those places that has a line out the door and any given time of the day or night as long as it's open. The flavors are bright and unusual and the servings are generous. Taste as many as you like before settling on a favorite but do it fast as the crowd behind you may lose it's patience. The coffee flavor had coffee flavored candy chips that gave you a slight buzz and the birthday cake flavor had real frosting swirled throughout. Taking those mix-ins to another level.

Located in the historic section of Philly, this desserterie serves the most decadent gelato we've ever had. Rich and creamy and thoroughly authentic. Try a wood fired pizza in the cafe before you indulge for a full blown tasting experience
5. Ted Drewes (Saint Louis, MO)
Not quite sure if Frozen Custard qualifies as ice cream, but who cares, this tasty frozen treat is just off the charts fantastic. Smooth and creamy, get a custard or a “concrete”-a shake so thick you can’t pour it out of the cup. Get in the ever-present line, and watch for wedding parties that stop by after the ceremony. It’s tradition! Went back again this year, and it just confirms our first impression....WOW!

This quirky shop is a must try in "Charm City". Outrageous inventive flavors made in small batches with a creamy smooth texture that is hard to beat. Their must try is their signature Old Bay Caramel. Who wouldn't want a crab boil flavoring in their ice cream-Sound too weird? don't knock it till you've tried it-It's my new favorite flavor.
7. Tillamook Creamery (Tillamook, Oregon)
Straight from the cow, made with the best ingredients right in the creamery. Take the factory tour and then indulge in this memorable treat.

You just cannot visit Hawaii without sampling the “flavor of Aloha”. Indulge in island inspired flavors like Coconut Macadamia Nut Fudge, and Auntie Lilikoi’s Passion Fruit sorbet, just to name a few. Beyond refreshing after a day in the sun.
9. Sprinkles (Newport, RI)
Not to be confused with the other Sprinkles, this place is a tiny stand on the waters edge on Bowen’s wharf. Totally original flavors with big chunks and swirls of tasty treats like raspberry truffles and caramel chunks! So amazing we had to stop ourselves from getting seconds otherwise we’d pop some buttons on our shorts.

10. Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory (Brooklyn, NY)Logo
The perfect combination of  hard, creamy and sweet. Not a huge amount of flavor choices but when you're this good the basics really shine. Their chocolate chip knocked our socks off. This is the ice cream you will wax nostalgic about and crave finding yourself planning a trip back to Brooklyn just to get another cone of goodness. www.BrooklynIceCreamFactory.com

We’ve tried it. I agree the flavors are really interesting and we tried a bunch, but it just lacked that luscious creaminess so it didn’t make our list.

  4. I would like to see what other places you’ve tried for the purpose of I may never get to some of these places but would be willing to go within a 50 mile radius to me.
