Idaho

Wow, I'd we we'd had more time here to explore. I would have loved to have spent some time on the Snake River, checked out a paper mill or a potato farm but we just didn't have the time. Idaho is like the shy sister whose beauty is not as as celebrated as her more popular sister Montana. Because Idaho Falls was our starting and stopping point for our loop which took us through some very pretty scenery, we did get … [Read more...]

Lower Mesa Falls (Idaho Scenic Byway)

Destination #3: Idaho, Wyoming and Montana

Lower Mesa Falls was our first road trip stop after landing in Idaho Falls with Shari and all the kids in tow. First stop? Find a toilet...After taking care of business, we headed up to where the waterfall spills over and stood out on the viewing platform. It was so natural and beautiful to see the rushing water and feel the spray. It was great to hear the kids ooh and ahh over something that was so far removed from … [Read more...]

Tautphaus Zoo (Idaho Falls)

Destination #3: Idaho, Wyoming and Montana

We had time for one more short activity before heading home the next day so we decided to take the kids to the Tautphaus Zoo. Although I am not a fan of zoos at all (I liken them to animal prisons), most of the animals here were on the smaller side and didn’t look too unhappy. (Ever see swaying elephants and pacing tigers—you just know they are going out of their minds. Wouldn’t you if you were confined to a … [Read more...]

Itinerary #3: Idaho, Wyoming and Montana

Destination #3: Idaho, Wyoming and Montana

This was our third road trip, and by now we’d started to get the hang of traveling together, moving quickly and absorbing everything we were seeing. Back home, our friends were starting to get very invested in our adventures on the road, and one family in particular was pretty keen on joining us. Sherry and her two kids, Maya and Eitan, were a godsend. Sherry was a retired attorney and 8th grade history teacher, … [Read more...]
