Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World (Oklahoma City)

Yes, I know Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World is a retail store, but this is such a fun, quirky stop that I highly recommend it as an activity everyone will enjoy. These ginormous superstores have everything you need to hunt, fish, catch, and cook and camp—a go-to stop for EVERYTHING you need to enjoy the great outdoors. Need a jerky cooker? no problem, need a cammo onesie for your toddler-they've got you covered.  They've got every kind of rod and reel known to man and flies and lures to fool any fish.  They even have huge tanks with all the native species of fish in the local area-which everyone in our group found fascinating.  How often do you get to see trout, bass and perch all swimming around!  We loved running around checking out all the incredible merchandise. especially the  wide variety of cool ATV’s and small boats.  Best of all, there is a mock shooting range. The guns work with lasers and for 50 cents (prices may have gone up by now) you get 20 shots to hit the moving targets. It was just too much to resist.  I got a ton of change and loaded everyone up and we had a shooting fest.  Not to toot my own horn, but I must say, I am a pretty decent shot.  Everyone, Loved, loved, loved trying to hit the targets, some of which were moving.  Afterwards we did a little souvenir shopping.  What did I buy you ask? Well, they had some amazing seasonings that I had sent home and a make your own beef jerky mix that we later did when we got back.  I had the butcher cut me some chuck about 1/4" thin and then we followed the directions mixing the spices.  Then we let it "dry" in the oven overnight since I didn't spring for the jerky drying machine.  I must admit it was pretty tasty.  My kids keep pestering me to buy another pack and do it again which I'll get around to one of these days (oh yeah, and you can order it all online too-click here).  But seriously...do not miss Outdoor World..It's an incredibly awesome experience especially if you live in a big city and don't normally go hunting or fishing in the great outdoors.  It really is one of my all time favorite stops.
