The Tillamook Creamery was one of the first factory tours we ever did and afterwards we were hooked. Inside you will learn that the Tillamook Creamery is a co-op. What that means is the local dairy farmers pool their resources together to create the finest quality dairy products and then they share the profits. We loved the awesome displays and found out the answers to our "cheesiest" questions. The factory tour is self-guided but the fantastic displays make it super clear what you are looking at. We also found that it was very kid friendly. Most awesome was tasting the cheese in it's various forms throughout the tour. At one stage it's called "squeaky" because it squeaks on your teeth. It's both weird and tasty and if you are truly enamored you can buy some in the cheese shop before you leave. The kids and I found it all truly interesting and educational. Also, don’t forget to stop at the ice cream shop and try some of the richest, creamiest ice cream ever in fact it made our top 10 list. You can find Tillamook cheese in just about every chain supermarket, in fact Lilia, Isaac and Joel enthusiastically point it out to me every time we go—and now you’ll know how it’s made.
