Pigeon Forge, in addition to lots of family fun amusements, also has a crazy array of wonderful and weird dinner shows. You just cannot visit here without seeing at least one of them. We thought about the Hatfields and McCoys’ dinner show, which I am sure was just a hoot but instead opted for the Great Smoky Mountain Lumberjack Feud Dinner Show.
It was a rainy evening so it was perfect since it was all indoors. Waiting to be let in to the "theater", we shopped in the makeshift gift shop that had tons of tacky yet quite adorable lumberjack inspired souvenirs. When it was time for the show to start, we headed inside to this large indoor amphitheater. We sat stadium style and were served a BBQ “dinner” in a box. Since the main course was pork ribs, we passed and just got the sides as we don't eat pork. The food was decent, but lets be honest, no one is coming here for the food. If you're picky like we are, do yourselves a favor and eat beforehand-there are tons of great places all along the main drag.
During the meal, two lumberjack teams compete against each other at various activities in a mock "feud". It was entertaining, to say the least. During the show, they would saw off slices of a log and hand them out to the audience sort of like a prize. Of course my kids got caught up in the excitement waving their hands wildly trying to get the "cookie" . Thankfully they didn't get one, can you imagine? What the heck would I do with an 18" round 2" thick piece of wood for the rest of the trip? Some "prizes" a just better left unwon. Definite thumbs up on the show, it's wacky fun for the whole family and was refreshingly wholesome entertainment. Oh and definitely make sure you take home the souvenir photo of yourselves sawing a log. It's a family portrait you won't soon forget.
