New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum (New Orleans)

Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama

Because of New Orleans' cultural ties to the Caribbean and voodoo culture, I thought it would be really interesting to do a voodoo tour and see the famous graves in this historic city while exploring something truly unique to New Orleans. I booked a tour through the New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum and I remember that something just didn't feel right when I got off the phone. When we arrived for our tour, we were greeted by a VERY (I cannot emphasize this enough) strange man in an orange suit and John Lennon glasses who began telling us about his pet snake (whom he was holding and caressing lovingly) who he claimed was sexually attracted to him and quite jealous.  It was absolutely the weirdest scene we have ever encountered.

In a moment, Yvonne looked at me…I looked back at her…and without a word, we grabbed the kids and headed right out the door. Needless to say we passed on the voodoo; I honestly don't believe in all the juju as I like to call it, but some things are just better left undiscovered…Explore at your own risk, if you dare.
