Remember the classic Dr. Seuss book "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish", well these clever restauranteurs took half the name and made a dynamite eatery right on the shore called Red Fish Blue Fish. We discovered this place while milling around Mallory Square and boy are we glad we did. My kids have been eating fish from a very young age and they just love it. The secret by the way, is when you introduce it to them, it has got to be super fresh-no fishy smell (which by the way is the way you should always eat it-if it even remotely smells fishy it's half spoiled). We like Mahi Mahi, Ahi Tuna, Barramundi, Halibut, Cod, Salmon, Trout, Tilapia, Grouper, simply grilled with a little seasoning is always best-but Joel is partial to Fish and Chips. There were lots of good things to order here fish wise but for you land lovers, they've also got steak, burgers and chicken too along with sandwiches and salads and a host of yummy appetizers.
We ordered up. They place was pretty packed but the service was excellent. The fish was very tasty and was served with some delicious fries and cole slaw on the side. The place is completely open air with fans so be forewarned. For dessert we of course had to taste the Key Lime pie. It was good, but not great. There are lots of places to eat in Key West, and this is as good an option as any if you are looking for some local fare and flavor.
