Do the research
Grab the atlas or research online, and find out where you can explore 2-3 hours away from home. You can apply the same plan, pack, and go principles that you would for a long road trip and enjoy a mini getaway that can still be meaningful as well as fun.
Don’t forget your spirit of adventure
Is there anything historical nearby that you’ve always wanted to check out but never had the chance? What resources, is your area famous for. Farm and factory tours are fantastic, maybe there are some nearby that you didn’t even know about. Be open minded about the places that you’ve taken for granted and you may find some surprising adventures that can be had fairly close to home.
Enjoy a simpler trip
Being relatively close to home means no airplanes or car rentals therefore taking some of the extra stress out of traveling. Enjoy a more carefree experience as well as a little extra time to enjoy everything you see.
