Just looking at this picture I am instantly taken back to the soft breezes, the gentle rolling waves and the wonderful calming sounds of Hawaiian music. As you cruise around the islands, here's an awesome list of inspired sounds to capture the spirit of Hawaii, tunes that will stay with you long after you have returned home. My personal favorites are the songs by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. Sadly he is no longer with us, but his voice and ukelele will move you to appreciate the Hawaii that you see before you and the Hawaii deep within ... aloha!

Thank you Alisa for creating such a wonderful site. We have 5 children and have driven our Honda Odyssey to all 48 states (Washington twice because we flew from Seattle to Alaska). We started in 2008 when our children ranged from 3-10 and will finish next month with a trip to Hawaii (but first need to drive our trusty minivan from Wisconsin to California). This trip will be bittersweet as my oldest will leave for college in the fall. When I think back to when we got this hair-brained idea, I never imagined the impact it would have on our family. The strength, curiosity, fortitude and ability to ask “when are we going to eat” and being OK with the response “in about 4 hours” is the best thing we could have given them. When you have slept in a tent in grizzly country, hiked in the canyons of Utah and played in the tide pools of Maine it leaves an imprint on your soul that you can’t get from Mario Cart. I appreciate your willingness to share your family’s journey. Bon Voyage, Maria Jacques
How lucky your children are to have such wonderful parents who’ve given them the ability to learn so many life lessons out on the road, things that will impact them in so many ways for the rest of their lives.
Hawaii will be amazing, enjoy the sweet paradise!-Alisa
