For some strange reason when I think of Indiana, I think of all American apple pie. Wholesome! Located in the heart of the midwest, Indiana still espouses old fashioned values and we could feel it wherever we went. People were friendly and welcoming, and service always came with a smile. We drove through a wonderful mix of old country roads and through large urban areas, but even a big city like Indianapolis has a sort of small town charm that's really endearing.
As we traveled through the "Crossroads of America" (Indiana's state motto) we learned how average Americans carved out their history here. From the settlements and early town at the Connor Prairie to the "You Are There" exhibits at the Indiana History Center we sampled a slice of the all American experience across two centuries. We even learned about the American phenomenon of NASCAR racing at the world famous Indy 500 Motor Speedway.
Indiana is the best of what America is and whose values set an example for what the rest of America can be.
