The reason I chose Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville for dinner for the gang, was a) it had family friendly cuisine and b) it had a cool surfing museum on site. We took a pleasant walk over from our hotel to the main shopping drag on Kalakaua Ave. where the restaurant is located in the Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber resort.
This was such a touristy place, right in the heart of the Honolulu mix but it had a lot of atmosphere. We perused the surfing museum while waiting for our table. it wasn't a full fledged museum, just a room filled with various memorabilia, but it was still fun to dial into the Waikiki legacy and it's surfing history. The food was fine but nothing memorable, but they had a live band which kept things lively and upbeat. The boys started requesting all kinds of songs, and I have to say, the band was pretty good-Anyone who can do a decent rendition of Gun and Roses' "Welcome to the Jungle" deserves accolades to be sure.
Island fare at a decent price with a fun atmosphere!
