We had an outstanding time discovering Oklahoma. We found out that Oklahoma is all about Aerospace, Oil and Cowboys. Yes, I know Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World is a retail store, but this is such a fun, quirky stop that I highly recommend it as an activity everyone will enjoy. These ginormous superstores have everything you need to hunt, fish, catch, and cook and camp—a go-to stop for EVERYTHING you need to enjoy the great outdoors. Oklahoma has a wonderful riverwalk that's also known as Bricktown. It's a wonderful place to grab lunch or dinner, spend a little time shopping, even check out a minor league ballgame at the Bricktown Ballpark. The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum has some of the most amazing artwork and while some of it is traditional sculptures and paintings, much of is decorative and embellishment of typical cowboy related items like saddles, spurs clothing etc. The museum also highlights the history and culture of the American Cowboy from it's earliest beginnings to today. The Oklahoma City National Memorial was a particularly difficult stop. The Omniplex Science Museum of Oklahoma is another terrific science museum. The truth is, I probably would not have stopped here since we’d already seen a bunch of these on other trips, but it was AIR CONDITIONED and we needed a break from the blazing hot Oklahoma heat. The Oklahoma State Capitol Building is one of my most memorable and favorite capitol buildings of the many I have visited . Everywhere you look there are incredible paintings and murals that are so vivid and bright. The artwork depicts the history and spirit of Oklahoma as well as it's connection to oil.
