This was my first solo trip (sort of—I took my housekeeper who although has been like a second mother to my kids, speaks no English and cannot drive…I love her to death but let's be honest, she could not be a great help in an emergency in the middle of nowhere). Had I known better, I would have taken along another mom with kids, but of course experience is the best teacher and so I learned for the next trip what I needed to do. Though we really did not get to explore a vast area across all three states (not even hitting one capitols of any of the three), we were able to make a loop and explore enough for an interesting taste of this unique and special region. In hindsight, this should have been a 10-12 day trip, but I did it over spring break to keep the kids busy. From glitzy Las Vegas, to the desolate desert on the way to the Grand Canyon, and a few other incredible National Parks in between, I encourage you to explore the truly wild West.
