Louisiana definitely has it's own distinct charm. Most folks only get to see New Orleans but we were fortunate to explore from Shreveport all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. Any Explore All 50 project road trip is never complete with a visit to the state capitol. The Louisiana State Capitol Building is quite different as it doesn't have a dome. When New Orleans is not celebrating Mardi Gras, you’ll find the majority of the floats at Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World. Also known as the Louisiana State Museum, The Cabildo was originally the seat of the colonial government in New Orleans, as well as the site of the Louisiana Purchase transfer. At one point the building housed the state supreme court and was the site of the famous Plessy vs. Ferguson decision. Now the building houses an incredible collection of Louisiana history. One of New Orleans more famous culinary treats is the beignet, and you will find none better that at the very famous Cafe Du Monde. One of the best ways to tour the French Quarter is to go on a carriage ride. We did this just a bit before sundown and it was something that both the kids and the adults thoroughly enjoyed.
