As you drive through and explore Vermont, you realize why this is the perfect location for the Ben and Jerry's factory. Rural dairy farms and a hippie vibe swirled together just like their ice cream. After the long drive down from Houston we were starving. Heading down toward the beach near our hotel we found Blackbeards, a seafood restaurant that was mighty tasty . Before hitting the road out of Corpus Christie we decided to check out the Texas State Aquarium. While it's kind of on the small side compared to some other aquariums we've seen we all had a great time experiencing the touch tanks learning about some of the local marine life. If you’re like us and have never been on an aircraft carrier, then you’ll find The USS Lexington Museum On The Bay really interesting just like we did. This ship was enormous, in fact the kids and I felt like it was a floating city. After an intensely serious activity learning all about the Kennedy assassination, the kids and I needed some fun and a bit of a break from the Texas heat. We headed to Adventure Landing, another family fun center in one of the Dallas suburbs. Billy Bob's Texas bills itself as the World's Largest Honky Tonk and I was just dying to check it out (cowboy boots and all), but I was pretty sure they wouldn't allow kids. Give the Cowtown Cattlepen Maze a try if you or your kids are feeling adventurous. We checked in and paid our fee and each kid was given a timed ticket. Their mission was to collect the 4 unique stamps within the maze and then return before the time is up. Gettting their tickets, my kids took off like rockets in all different directions. The Federal Bureau of Engraving is one of the few places where we have ever experienced such tight security. It was so tight in fact that we couldn't even bring in our phones or camera, we had to leave everything in the car. You can't even walk up to the building, you have to park and take a special shuttle bus that takes you to the front entrance. I don't know about you, but cattle don't parade down the streets of my city, but apparently they do at The Stockyards in Fort Worth. Holy cow! at 11:30am and 4pm they have a mini cattle drive and the Texas Longhorns march right through the streets with cowboys keeping the herd in check.
