I love to read the newspaper and come Sunday I go straight to the travel section. I find it's a fantastic resource for all kinds of travel related information from destinations to apps and how to secure the best bargain. Recently I came across some awesome things that I thought were particularly useful that I would love to share with you. I am always looking to save on airfare. Did you know that the best time … [Read more...]
Front Street (Lahaina)
Front Street is where all the action is, is in the old whaling port of Lahaina which is also the civic center of Maui. There are a ton of shops (lots of great places to pick up inexpensive souvenirs-just make sure they're not made in China!), art galleries and fun restaurant options here and it's quite a lively scene. Make sure you walk all the way down and check out the huge Banyan tree whose branches span an … [Read more...]
Dole Pineapple Plantation (Wahiawa)
Heading out of Honolulu on our way to the North Shore we stopped at the Dole Pineapple Plantation to learn about one of Hawaii's signature crops. A word of warning, this "plantation" is a massive tourist trap. There are some free activities like a pineapple cutting demonstration but some of the other activities will cost you, like the enormous pineapple maze and the train ride and garden tour. We opted not to do … [Read more...]
Mallory Square (Key West)
Mallory Square is pretty much the center of where all things are happening in Key West. It's a terrific place to walk around, check out the fun and unique shops and kiosks and do some awesome souvenir shopping. You can get the requisite t-shirt or shell art, but why not get something really unique with some Key West history? A really cool souvenir I bought here was a natural sponge at the Key West Sponge … [Read more...]
Downtown Disney (Orlando)

There are lots of eating options here, but we found out the hard way that … [Read more...]
Schultz’s Cheese Haus (Beaver Dam)
Wisconsin is known across the country for it's delicious cheese, and so we decided to break up the drive from Madison to Green Bay by sampling cheese at various stops along the way. Our favorite stop by far was Schultz's Cheese Haus in Beaver Dam. The folks inside could not have been friendlier allowing the kids and I to sample all kinds of interesting and delicious things while explaining to us about the origin … [Read more...]
Wall Drug (Wall)
All the guidebooks we use to plan our trips said Wall Drug is a not to be missed stop. As we were driving along Highway 90 leaving Rapid City on our way to the Badlands we were beckoned by the colorful roadside signs that sporadically appeared and started to become much more frequent the closer we got. As we got close there was so much hype and hoopla that we just had to stop although we were not sure exactly … [Read more...]
